Since first publishing this website in 2000, every year I have attempted to make a point of highlighting the prior year’s adventures. Naturally, some years have been better than others. With that in mind, we’re very eager to put this crazy year behind us and usher in the new year.
2008 consisted of:
- Getting fired for the first time in my life and learning that sometimes bad things really do happen to good people.
- Moving back to Portland, Oregon.
- Being unemployed for over seven months and applying for over 1,000 jobs.
- This country facing one of the worst economic crisis’s in our nation’s history.
- A black man being elected president of the United States. (Obama 08!)
- Banks failing, mortgage giants being nationalized, foreclosures doubling, and the auto industry asking for a hand out. (And getting one.) Also, the un-employment rate skyrocketed, gas prices went above $5 a gallon back down to under $2 a gallon. I think you get the idea.
- Fear. Panic. Chaos.
- Some of the worst weather in December that Oregon has seen in over forty years.
- After two years of marriage, we were fortunate enough to be able to finally take our honeymoon.
- Going to my first Oregon Duck’s football game.
- Reconnecting with old friends.
- Brian and Mackenzie’s Wedding
- I still don’t know if the glass is half empty or half full.
